Laws
These vary from country to country , area to area . They can include permits
of when to fish ( seasons )
what type of fish are able to be caught ( eg : species of fish such as tuna )
restrictions on type of equipment to be used ( eg ; fishing rod, with hook and reel)
and quotas ( quantity restrictions ) on type of fish caught so as not to endanger numbers of the breed in that area
Laws usually ban catching fish with hooks other than in the mouth .Snagging or foul hooking is not usually permitted and the use of nets is only permissable to help land a captured fish.
Occassionally (non-sport) fish are considered less valuable and you may use methods like snagging, bow and arrow, or spear to catch them . Some bait fish are able to be netted .None of these techniques fall under the definition of angling since they do not rely upon the use of a hook and line.
